Breaking the Rules: How I Fused Opera with Electronic Dance Music
There was a time when I believed that art had to choose a side.
Opera was my world—a sacred space of discipline, refinement, and deep emotional precision. I trained for the great stages of the world, and lived in a universe where every breath had its place, every crescendo its history. The audience sat in reverent silence. The rules were ancient, and I respected them.
But there was another rhythm inside me — one that didn’t ask for permission.
Electronic Dance Music. Techno. Wild. Free. Explosive. A place where the body leads and the soul follows, where the beat doesn’t wait, and the night never apologizes for feeling too much.
These two worlds couldn’t be further apart. One is velvet and stillness, the other is sweat and strobe lights. One looks inward, the other pulses outward. The public, the culture, the sound—it was like fire and water.
And yet… I saw beauty in both.
So I stopped choosing.
I created a bridge.
I began writing lyrics in four languages, weaving the operatic voice into cinematic builds, euphoric synths, and dark techno rhythms. I blended the timelessness of classical with the urgency of the now. I created a new musical language where two universes—ones that had never truly spoken—could finally sing together.
From the Staatsoper in Vienna to the main stage at Untold in 2024, this journey wasn’t a detour. It was a revolution. A beautiful one.
